These photos represent those who have influenced me the most on this path. I am so grateful to all the teachers in my life—from my professors (Drs. Christopher Chapple, Jason Birch, Ana Funes, John Casey) to Tim Miller, who teaches so much more than asana in his ashtanga classes (his story-telling and his knowledge of the Yoga Sūtras and other teachings has been so inspirational to me) to Judith Hansen Lasater, Dharma Mitra, Edward Clark, and Sri K. Patthabi Jois.  But, equally important to me as teachers in my life, have been my family.

My wonderful husband, Alton, has traveled to India with me eleven times now!  He is the most supportive, amazing man. My kitties are also my gurus. The time spent playing with them and brushing them each day reminds me to slow down and be “in the moment.”  And my friends are also such an important part of my life. We are all learning together and lighting each other’s paths.  And, of course, Mother Nature, with her lessons on impermanence, beauty, and immersion into “something bigger than ourselves, ”and that interconnection we have with each other and all of the universe, is the most important guru of all.

wild and precious life?”
